Surprising Ways CBD Oil Helps Your Skin
One of the newest miracle herbs for your skin that is out there is called CBD oil. While there are lots of benefits for your insides, like anti-inflammatory properties, lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, boosting your immune system and much more, there are also benefits of hemp oil for your body’s largest organ – your skin. Let’s take a look at some of the surprising ways that CBD oil can help your skin.
Nutrients
One of the things that CBD oil does for your skin is provide it with the nutrients that it needs. Most people do not provide their skin and hair with enough vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and proteins, and as a result their hair and skin are not as healthy as they could be. But hemp oil contains vitamins C and E, which protect the skin from damage caused by the sun. CBD oil also contains B-complex vitamins which help in the construction of new skin cells, and vitamins A and D will give you healthier looking skin. In fact, low levels of B-complex vitamins can actually lead to skin problems such as dermatitis.
Acne Prevention
Hemp oil can also be helpful when it comes to preventing acne. Acne is brought on by several physiological factors including stress, hormonal changes or medication side effects. But the main cause of acne is that your body sometimes produces too much sebum, and it combines with dead skin cells, hair and bacteria to clog your pores. This can cause acne to form. There are many over-the-counter treatments for acne, but hemp oil works differently than all of these. Hemp oil inhibits the production of lipids specifically in skin cells, which can reduce the amount of acne breakouts. In addition, CBD oil can reduce the appearance of acne and help it disappear faster because of the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of the supplement.
Anti-Aging
Now let’s take a look at the anti-aging benefits of CBD oil. There are a lot of anti-aging products out there, and it is safe to say that most of them do not live up to their promises. In fact, many of them have no research to back up their claims at all and only the flimsiest of anecdotal evidence. Luckily, hemp oil is not one of those. The way that CBD oil works is by supporting the endocannabinoid system which is responsible for nearly all of the skin cells you have. Out with the old and in with the new is the motto of this system. A 2012 study published in the Neurobiology of Aging Journal showed that without the receptors that are necessary for the endocannabinoid system to work, aging and skin elasticity happens quite rapidly. Because hemp oil is an antioxidant more powerful than just about anything out there, it supports the endocannabinoid system, protects the skin from free radicals and minimize the effects of aging.
Treating Skin Conditions
Obviously, CBD oil is extremely good for your skin, but did you know that there are some specific skin conditions that can benefit from hemp oil as well? In fact, even though the anti-aging and cosmetic benefits of hemp oil are quite well-known, what researchers are even more concerned with are the potential treatments that can be developed from hemp oil for a number of skin conditions. A study in the British Journal of Pharmacology determined that CBD controls cell proliferation and has the potential for treating a number of skin diseases including skin allergies, warts, moles, HPV and possibly even cancer. There have been positive results with eczema and psoriasis as well.
